FAQs

What is mindset coaching for kids?

Mindset coaching helps children understand how their thoughts, feelings, and actions work together. Through fun stories and activities, kids learn important life skills like confidence, resilience, self-belief, and managing emotions — skills that set them up for success in school and beyond.

What age group is this for?

Mindset coaching is best suited for children aged 6 to 12, when they’re developing habits and beliefs about themselves and their world. However, the skills can benefit kids (and even parents!) of all ages. Many Wisdom coaches have used this curriculum on teenagers and even young adults with success.

How can I tell if mindset coaching is right for my child?

If your child is struggling with confidence, frustration, or self-belief — or you simply want to help them build lifelong tools for success and happiness — coaching can be a wonderful fit.

Are sessions one-on-one or group-based?

I offer both individual and small-group sessions. One-on-one sessions are great for personalized attention, while group sessions can be wonderful for practicing social and communication skills in a supportive environment.

How many sessions will my child need?

That depends on your child’s unique needs and goals. Most children complete their program in about 6 sessions.

Before you commit, I’ll prepare a detailed session plan tailored specifically for your child. We’ll review it together so you know exactly what to expect—no surprises along the way.

If you’d like to complete one package or challenge and then pause before starting the next, we can absolutely do that too. Many families start with a short package of 4–6 sessions and then continue with specific themes or skills as needed.

Do sessions have to be in person, or can they be online?

I offer both in-person and online sessions, depending on where you’re located. Each session is designed in a way that the learning experience stays just as effective, whether it’s face-to-face or virtual.

If sessions are held at home, parents just need to make sure basic materials like stationery are available. I will send an email 3 days before the session letting you know what materials will be needed. For in-person sessions, I provide everything your child needs.

How many mindset skills does WISDOM coaching cover?

We can cover 27 mindset skills with the full Wisdom coaching curriculum. For details on all the 27 skills, head over to the parent resource section to get a full list of the curriculum.

How often should my child attend sessions?

I recommend one session per week, but I also offer flexibility. Some families prefer fortnightly sessions depending on their schedules. Ideally, there shouldn’t be more than a 14-day gap between sessions to keep the learning consistent and impactful.

Do parents take part in the sessions?

Parents don’t have to attend, but I love keeping you in the loop! After each session, I share a short summary so you can support your child at home and reinforce what they’ve learned.

How long is each coaching session?

Most sessions last around 60 minutes. This gives enough time for learning, reflection, and fun activities without overwhelming your child.

Why does story coaching work?

Kids do not respond to lectures or pressure. They respond to connection, creativity, and play.

Because their brains are still developing, especially in areas related to self-reflection and critical thinking, traditional adult coaching techniques often miss the mark. That is why the Adventures in Wisdom curriculum uses storytelling as the foundation for coaching.

Stories allow children to see themselves in characters and explore real-life challenges in a safe and engaging way. When paired with discussion questions and hands-on activities like drawing, role-playing, or games, children remember the lessons and apply them to their own lives.
